The data from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) says that most Micro-small-medium enterprises (MSMEs) are micro enterprises, which make up 90.49% of all MSMEs. The rest are small enterprises (8.69%). The top industries for MSMEs are wholesale and retail trade, followed by repair of vehicles, accommodation and food services, manufacturing, and other services. Most MSMEs are found in NCR, Region 4-A, Region 3, Region 7, and Region 6. In total, MSMEs create millions of jobs in the Philippines.

It is estimated that 80% of enterprises in the Philippines are family-owned and managed. They are, by definition, family businesses. Whether intentional or not, any business with Business-to-Business (B2B) strategy will most likely serve a family business.
